Is it morally OK to try to free people from the WTS and how?
by DannyBloem ini have some serious questions here.
i am still a jw but fading away slowly.
still have some privileges etc, but that will not be too long i suppose.

I am thinking of just e-mailing all brothers that I know just a link to the UN site the famous document. This can be enough for some maybe. Just with the serious question if it is true, or something that they have to read it.
You'd think that would work for some, wouldn't you, but what you don't know is that you'll probably get the stock and standard answers back:
"You know you can't believe everything you read on the internet."
"That was probably falsified by an apostate."
"The Society cancelled their membership once they realized, what more do you expect them to do?"
"Do you trust someone you don't know more than the Faithful & Discreet Slave?"
"Sometimes the Society has to do certain things to help the brothers."
"They weren't really members of the UN, they had no special privliges or benefits."
"You know what the Society says about reading apostate information."
blah blah blah
I speak from experience.

Does being a JW make a person physically sick?
by Gill indefinitely mentally and more than likely physically.. i have read on a few posts and freeminds about an increase of mental illness amoungst jws of between 2 and 40 % and it seems understandable considering the amount of stress being in the borg puts on people.. but what about physically?.
what are your experiences since leaving the borg?.
do you feel well and fitter than ever before?.

Wax fruit looks exactly like real fruit. Sometimes it even looks better! ; But, what happens if you eat it?
You get sick.
The eye can be fooled; but, not the body.
Our MIND can live in a fantasy world and easily. But, our poor body always lives in the REAL world.
No matter what you feed your mind, the body lives in the real world.
Crazy thinking is "crazy" because it doesn't fit the REAL world. ; The real world is cause and effect.
Magic thinking, fantasy, delusion, religious ideas all feed the mind on waxed fruit. The mind isn't physical and doesn't know the difference! ; But, this craziness doesn't FIT the real world and the body goes out of harmony.
Your body is smarter than your mind. Why? Because it is rooted in the HERE and NOW. But, the mind can be anywhere and nowhere.
You have to think REAL thoughts about real things or your performance as a physical being will be damaged and the result will by somatic and symptomatic.
Stinkin' thinkin' leads to illness.
Excellent explanation Terry!!!!! Thank you!

Did anyone find the DC encouraging?
by sweet tee ini remember going to the assemblies and conventions and feeling encouraged by the information that was presented.
in hindsight, i may have just felt that way because that's how you were supposed to feel.
i was a 100% brainwashed fool for many years, if the gb said it, i did, i felt it and i believed it .

Yes, I SURE did!!!!!!!!!!!! Matter of fact, this was the most encouraging DC ever.
Oh, hey, did I mention that this is the first DC I didn't go to???????? hehehe
Self DA'd the end of April........BIG SMILE
So sorry to hear about y'alls experiences. I used to be present every single day/minute, loyally taking notes all throughout. Have to say I didn't miss it a single solitary bit this year. Matter of fact, I just now realized, my DC would have been this last weekend. Oh well.

P.S. Dismembered, you're a riot Cheers!!!!!!!!
When I saw the year text for 1974 I knew it all had been a big scam.
Gary what was it?
"Ask not what the WTBTS can do for you, ask what you can do for the WTBTS."

dropped wife off at convention this morn...
by tetrapod.sapien ini just got back home from dropping my wife off at the convention this morning.
i took the day off of work so i could celebrate the occasion of freedom from mass-delusional-cult-think-programming.
out on the porch, sun shinning, birds chirping, scotch in one hand, demon haunted world in the other.. as i was driving my wife to the convention grounds, she thanked me for all the help i had provided her in getting ready for the convention, and for driving her.

Tetra,
That must be kinda tough to drop your wife off to have the cult indoctrinate her for the day, it's good that you can see the positive side that you're free from it. I was wondering, do you have a copy of Crisis of Conscience that you leave laying around the house? I would do that. Have you read it? I would probably say to my spouse, you're not going to believe what I just read........and then tell her an example from the book. That's what I did with my husband, but he was already doubting. I printed stuff off the internet, we talked about it. We made the decision together. My husband said to me, we are so lucky that we always seem to see eye to eye on these kind of things.
I hope you can help her wake up. She doesn't deserve to be misled that way.

P.S. I think things will be changing for the WTS because of all of us that have been leaving and telling others as much as we can. I don't think they will have quite the increase that they used to. The internet has saved so many people's lives and families. Keep up the good work!!!!

At last finished reading Crisis of Conscience
by diamondblue1974 in.
and what an eye opener it was...dont get me wrong i faded some 10 years ago and the reasons for such were contained in the book, i.e 1914, failed prophecies and so forth.. the expose is disarming by its objective style and whilst i now read any literature through sceptical eyes i could see a person genuinely grieved by what had taken place and the crisis he was subjected to conscientiously; it said it all to me when he said that his aim was not to divert people from the jws but give them support so they could develop as christians and therefore allow them to come to their own conclusions (or words to that effect).. extremely well written and consise with reams of references (which i happen to love).. anyone that is recently out must read this book...it objective, honest and was totally surprising in parts.. db74

Congratulations!!!! I'm about half way through the book now, and intend to read every last bit of it (it's a long one though!!). It has helped me, as I have left the b0rg only a month and a half ago. Like others have commented, I can't see how anyone could read the book and not be severely affected by it. When I read about the brothers in Mexico not being able to pray or sing at their meetings, or carry a Bible door to door, until around 1990 because they were not known as a religious organization, but instead a "cultural" organization, so the WTS could own the properties in Mexico as a "cultural" organization, I was appalled.
I just ordered In Search of Christian Freedom, so I'll be reading that next.
These books help so many to have peace and understanding about leaving the organization. They are invaluable for our mental health after being told over and over and over that it's God's organization.......ahhhh, NOT so much!!!!!

Does watchtower society support any charity??
by Podiatrist injust wondering, do you know of any?

I believe all the above replies are true. The WTS is all about making money. That's part of why I decided to leave the org. I felt like I was wasting my time in field service, and yet I had perfectly good belongings at home that I didn't need or want anymore and no one to give them to. I would receive things in the mail about food drives where the mailman would pick up any food you left out on a certain day, and feel bad because we weren't "supposed to" do any charitable work besides the preaching work. Sooooooooo SAD. Now that I'm free, I'm planning to look for ways that I can contribute my time and money in ways that will seriously benefit people. I believe Jesus was right, There is more happiness in giving than receiving.....if you give someone something they really need.

Pearls before swine
When Jesus said: "...This is why I have said to you, No one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father," the religious Jews took that as arrogance, presumptuousness and untrue. (John 6:65). Such thinking is not popular even now. We are certain you recall Jesus' words to the religious Jews at Matthew 23. Notwithstanding, Jesus died for all who would put faith in his sacrifice and subject themselves to his direction. (John 3:16). Many accept Christ as their savior, but on their terms.
The WTS puts themselves on the same plane as Christ; that no one can approach God unless they go through the WTS. Are they saying that their position on earth is the same as the Son of God's was?
May 31, 2005
Could be that they have already announced your DA; but then many elders prefer to have something in writing before they do that so they may still be waiting for your response.
Good luck, Blondie
Isn't that exactly what the WTS does, accept Christ as their savior, but on their terms???? They make up their own rules and the enforce them on everyone else. As for the announcement, I couldn't care any less. I'm so happy to be done with that org. I've got most of my response prepared already, my husband and I will be finishing it this weekend and sending it off. There is no chance of us going back. Thanks Blondie

Does anyone know why I can only access this thread under active topics, and it doesn't show up at all under the Friends thread????
I seem to have problems with this website.
